Celebrating Women

As part of International Women's Day 2022 the Diversity Committee led an initiative for members of staff to recreate images of iconic women whilst the Art Department dedicated Vol 2 of their Art Zine to the theme of Women. Pupils and staff were asked to submit images of women in all forms, from painting to poetry! See the fantastic outcomes below:

Art Zine Vol 2: Women

Jim Thomas (Anson, 1949) hadn’t visited RHS since he left 73 years ago. He saw an advert for the Festival of the Sea, and immediately knew he wanted to attend the event. Jim made the long journey from Portsmouth to RHS and back on one day with his son, Glyn Thomas. They attended the concert where he enjoyed music from the talented musicians from the Royal Marines School of Music followed by the Thanksgiving Service in the Chapel.

Jim’s son said “it was just fantastic to see him rejuvenated and to hear him tell stories of his time at the school.” At the age of 88, it was a long day for Jim but one he thoroughly enjoyed; it is certainly one for the memory book!

Jim would like to get in touch with those who were in Anson at the same time as him. If you would like to contact him, please email Katie Gould via kgould@royalhospitalschool.org and she will be able to make the introductions.
