Pupils win at regional Year 10 Maths Feast competition
Four pupils have beaten fifteen local schools to win the East of England Year 10 Maths Feast competition organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme.
Evie S, Charlie G, Rowley K and Aoife R competed in four rounds of puzzles and tasks aimed to test mathematical, team-working and communication skills. The competition is designed to support students in developing their problem solving skills and to teach them to react positively to new and difficult situations so no details of what the rounds would cover were given beforehand. Our pupils had to think on their feet and work together as they were tested on both recreational and traditional mathematics without the use of any aids such as calculators or protractors.
Despite some tough local competitors the team were rewarded with the overall win not only for their knowledge but also for their teamwork throughout the rounds gaining them crucial points.
