Superb summer performances on the track and field

Pupils put in some superb performances on the track and field this summer with highlights at the Anglian Championships, English Schools Cup, county finals qualifications and Sports Day.

RHS had 10 pupils qualify for the Anglian Championships held at the University of East Anglia. Notable performances were from Mufaro S in the 100m, Dan B-H in the discus and Aston G-L in the hammer. Bella K in the also ran a great race in the 400m hurdles earning her a place at the national level of the English Schools Cup.

In domestic fixtures both the boys and girls Year 9 teams made it through to the county finals. RHS entered three teams into the regional round of the English Schools Cup and who earned second place in Bury St Edmunds.

Sports Day was ran under beautiful blue skies with spectators taking advantage of the weather picnicking along the track. Congratulations go to Raleigh for winning the girls, St Vincent the boys and Francis in the Blake competition. The girls 4 x 200m saw a new record for Raleigh and Zion A broke the U14 high jump record and the 70m hurdle record. Zion was a worthy winner of the Bruce Trophy for outstanding effort and participation on Sports Day.
