RS Tera Sailing

RS Tera Eastern Region Traveller Sailing Series

Georgie entered the six events in the RS Tera Eastern Region Traveller Sailing Series throughout 2018; Brightlingsea Sailing Club (14th); Eastern Championships at Burnham Sailing Club (7th); Bough Beech Sailing Club (did not compete, 57th); Rutland Sailing Club (3rd); Royal Harwich Yacht Club (10th); and Brightlingsea Sailing Club, again in lieu of an event at Alton water due to algae (3rd).

Four of the six events count to your series score so Georgie was able to 'discard' her 'did not compete' 57th place and 14th places and therefore counted two 3rd places, a 7th and a 10th. This was the third best set of results from any of the 56 competitors and the best by any girl earning her a plethora of awards.

Mr Sibson, Director of Sailing commented, "Georgie joined RHS in Year 7 last September and has sailed with us three times a week throughout the last fourteen months. Her results are down to her hard work, effort, concentration and focus in training sessions, both with the school and the eastern region squad."

Last weekend Georgie also competed in the RS Tera End of Season Championship - a national level event rather than the regional events as reported above. Thirty-six sailors entered and they sailed seven races over the weekend, counting five to the event result. Georgie counted 2nd, 4th, 4th, 5th and 5th. This finished her in 5th place overall and first girl. A fantastic end to the season.

For comparison, in the 2017 events Georgie finished 5th overall and 2nd girl in the Eastern Region Traveller Series and did not enter the End of Season Championship showing remarkable progress.
