We are very proud to announce Professor Philip Howard (Cornwallis 1983) has been awarded an OBE for services to Healthcare.
Professor Howard is Consultant Pharmacist, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and lately National Project Lead, Antimicrobial Resistance, NHS Improvement. A major part of Professor Howard's work is addressing national and global health priorities related to infection including over, and inappropriate, prescribing of antibiotics.
Professor Howard continues a long tradition of RHS alumni pioneering advances in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As a former Cornwallis boy Professor Howard also epitomises the house moto 'Learn to Serve'.
Commenting on his OBE, Professor Howard said:
"My time at RHS taught me the importance of teamwork, which has been the backbone of my career and allowed me to work with some very talented people within pharmacy and more broadly on the global antimicrobial resistance agenda."
Professor Howard is part of an impressive cohort of RHS pupils from the early 1980s who are leaders in defence, science, law and business. We look forward to Professor Howard coming back to RHS as part of our alumni programme designed to inspire today's pupils to be ambitious for their futures.
