The success of our Professional Networking Programme continues to grow from strength to strength. The autumn London event was held at Baring Asset Management by kind invitation from Mrs Nicola Robertson, Head of Human Resources UK and Europe at Barings, a parent at RHS.
The diversity of industry sectors represented is a real insight into the opportunities in the world of work, industries such as security, crisis & resilience, media, Healthcare, technology, commercial property, music and government just to name a few. For the first time the under 25s outnumbered the over 25s by 2:1 which really shows that value of the programme offering.
Special thanks go to our speakers, Kevin Briscoe, Raleigh, 1983 who spoke about his career in journalism before starting his own marketing and PR business. Richard Corner, Hawke, 1994 shared his story of starting Seafood and Eat It with his brother with the help of a grant from The Princes Trust, of which he is now a mentor. Richard Stokes, St Vincent 2012 gave us an insight of going straight into the Civil Service from school, he is now Head of UK Automotive Trade Policy with a team of 14. Parent, Russell Sheldon spoke about his career starting out at PWC to becoming Chief Operations & Technology Officer working in digital enablement and operational transformation. The talks finished with Nicola Robertson explaining the wide variety of career opportunities at Barings in areas such as global investment & technology, finance & account, administration & office management.
"It was a great event and something I will definitely be attending again in the future.......I am extremely excited about the next steps and what the future may hold!"
