Movember

Movember

Three members of staff are taking part in Movember to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes.

Mr Griffiths and Mr Vickers are participating in Movember to raise awareness for the charity: Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). CALM is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day. Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, too many men are "toughing it out", keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030 and any monies raised will help. Any donation will help raise the profile and support this charity to help those who are struggling with life and are in need of help and someone to talk to. CALM can change people's lives and a small donation will help them continue their work. To answer a telephone which could potentially safe a life costs £8 and to keep one phone line open from 17:00 to midnight costs £170. They would be very grateful for any donations towards this fantastic cause even a £1. If 8 people donated a £1 they may just save somebody's life.

Mr Ling, is raising awareness for bowel cancer. A £100 donation could train a GP in the early diagnosis of bowel cancer, £50 could teach ten people about the symptoms and risks of bowel cancel and £25 could help five people recovering from bowel cancer mange their diet. The charity works to improve awareness of bowel cancer and break the taboo of having a bowel disease and make sure this cancer doesn't remain hidden through education training programmes.
