Royal Hospital School are NSEA National Eventer Challenge champions at Hickstead
RHS sent a team of 7 girls to Hickstead to compete in the Eventer Challenge Championship, not all combinations that qualified could make it but 2 teams of 3 competed in the 80-85cm followed by a team of 4 in each of the 90-95cm and 1m-105cm championship classes. The girls qualified for this very popular and prestigious event in November 2018.
The Eventer Challenge is a course of show jumps which is not timed followed by a cross country section which is timed. Hickstead have just completed a fabulous new enlarged surface with solid cross country jumps and a large water feature. The 80-85cm class was the first and largest class number wise of the weekend starting at 10:30 and finishing at 18:00 on Saturday with over 36 teams and individuals in total over 150 riders.
The trio of Holly H, Aoife R and Maisy H had 3 lovely clear and fast rounds to take the title. Aoife was 4th individually. The other team of Emma S, Lulu G and Molly N were unfortunate not to be placed. On the Sunday the winning trio were joined by Molly N and were runners up in the 90-95cm class, this was Molly's first eventer challenge championship and she finished the class with a lovely clear and a cross country section on the optimal time. The trio were joined by Eliza T (team captain) on the Monday and finished in 8th place, this was Maisy's first time ever competing at 1m she joined the team as a wild card and ended with a cross country round on the optimal time. A fantastic achievement by the equestrian team to be placed in all 3 classes at such a competitive level.
Elsewhere Molly N was 9th and Lulu G 12th in the Saturday Warm up class with 82 entrants, Emma S finished in the top third of the arena eventing (JWS) class with 105 entrants.
An exhausting weekend with great team spirit which was very well supported by family and friends.
