Petition presented to Downing Street calling for Forces Pension rules review
Christopher Cooper (Drake 1963), a former Royal Navy Senior Petty Officer, presented a petition with 22,000 signatures to Downing Street, alongside his wife Sky and former Royal Navy Radio Operator, Barry Cuckow asking for a review of the Forces Pension.
Up to 300,000 former servicemen are unable to receive a full pension due to legal loophole. The Forces Pension was introduced in 1975, and those who served less than 15 years are not eligible. Those who left after 1975 get a pro-rata pension provided they served at least two years. The petition was launched to change the rules so that those who left pre-1975 receive the same benefits.
