Pupils perform well at the IET Faraday Challenge day
The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Faraday Challenge programme was created to introduce a new generation to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Two keen RHS teams travelled to The Philip Morant School and College in Colchester to compete with three other schools and six other teams.
This year, the IET teamed up with the James Webb Space Telescope UK to create a series of tasks inspired by the upcoming launch of a mechanical assistant to the Webb telescope planned for 2021. Both teams performed exceedingly well with one team making a water system to cool down the rocket and the other making a dome projector of the telescope's view.
All the participants would recommend this opportunity to future pupils interested in Design and Technology and STEM, and thanks to Mrs Maloney and other staff for introducing and guiding the team on the day.
