Hickstead Eventers Challenge qualifier
The RHS equestrian team were out in force over the weekend at the Jays Bury St. Edmunds for the Hickstead Eventers challenge qualifier for 2019; a long and hotly contested day. The top two teams and two individuals from each class qualify with RHS entering four teams competing in the 80-85cm (2 teams), 90-95cm and 1m-1.05cm. This is a course of show jumps followed by cross country (XC) jumps and a run through water with the XC part set on an optimal time, it is a long challenging course. There was a fantastic team spirit amongst the RHS girls who were amazingly determined to perform well on the Remembrance Sunday.
The 80-85cm team of Emma S, Charlotte B, Molly N and Aoife R were placed first and the team of Holly H, Maisy H, Charlotte B (2nd pony) and Aoife R (2nd Pony) were second, the top two teams qualified. Aoife was placed 1st and 4th individually and Molly was placed 2nd individually.
The 90-95cm team of Holly H, Maisy H, Molly N and Aoife R were placed 2nd and qualified and Molly was 3rd individually and Maisy was 4th individually.
The 1m-1.05m team of Eliza T, Holly H and Aoife R won the class with an individual win by Holly and Aoife was 6th.
It was fabulous to see Molly (Y7) and Maisy (Y9) as new pupils to RHS do so well and engage so fabulously in the spirit of the RHS Equestrian team.
The girls are competing at the Keysoe next weekend for the Championship Plate (National Championships) and RPL (Regional Points League Final).
