Year 7 Bibles

Captain Rob Watson and his wife Sandra from Good News for Everyone (formerly known as Gideons UK) visited the Royal Hospital School on the 15 September to gift bibles to our Year 7s. Good News for Everyone is a charity, originating from 1908, with the purpose of presenting bibles to schools, hospitals, hotels and public services.   

During the regular school chapel service on Thursday Morning, Sandra spoke about how the bible had guided the life of HM Queen Elizabeth II as ‘the servant Queen’, while Captain Watson called it the “grand book of life” and took time to reflect on how he had witnessed it give “new strength” and “transform lives”.  

Year 7 pupils were offered the gift of a copy of the New Testament and Psalms, embossed with the school crest. The Rev Dr McConnell thanked Captain Watson and Sandra for their long-standing friendship and support of the Royal Hospital School and for sharing their insights with the pupils.
