On Monday, 90 of our A Level and BTEC pupils in mathematics, business, economics, and media came together to listen to an inspirational keynote speech from Andy Phillipps - entrepreneur, angel investor, venture partner, and RHS parent. Mr Phillipps shared insights into the pros and cons of being an entrepreneur, developments in technology, and considerations for setting up a new business.
The business and mathematics departments then tasked the pupils, grouped into unfamiliar teams, with planning, costing, and pitching their ideas on how to use a field and capital investment to create a viable business. The day was further enriched by the expertise of Alison Beech, a business coach and mentor, who guided teams with her professional insights.
To bring their ideas to life, the pupils creatively used AI to design logos and visuals before pitching their concepts to a panel of four judges and their 90 peers. The energy, creativity, and professionalism from our Year 12 pupils was simply outstanding!
🏆 The winning idea? An upmarket dog parlour offering kennels and training facilities – innovative, practical, and full of potential!
We’re excited to see if this cohort of RHS pupils will become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. 🚀
Thank you to Irfan Latif, Andy Phillipps, Alison Beech, and Rebecca Keeble for joining us to judge the business ideas!
