Tennis Season Round Up

As week one of Wimbledon gets underway, what better time to reflect upon our summer of tennis at RHS!

This year we have pushed hard to raise the profile of tennis within the RHS community, and we have been rewarded with so much talent and enthusiasm from across all year groups.

In Year 7 we have seen some of the most enthusiastic players attending our Recreational Tennis sessions, with many attending twice a week to enjoy the sunshine and just hitting some balls with their friends.

Year 10 have proven one of our most exciting and talented year groups this year, with many pupils representing the school in fixtures against other schools - most notably our Year 10 girls won their league and competed against incredibly strong competition at the Framlingham Finals event last week.

We have also enjoyed a wealth of talent amongst our international pupils throughout the year groups, with many high-ranking players arriving from France and Spain for the Summer Term.

In order to showcase some of our RHS talent alongside our fixtures, we hosted an internal knockout tournament as part of the Festival of the Sea Jubilee Celebrations in June.

With many of our international players taking part this was an excellent opportunity for them to play high level tennis in our amazing setting - we even had to pause play for the Royal Navy parachutists to drop down above us with coloured smoke emanating from their feet - I am not sure that Wimbledon could beat that.

What a year - we go from strength to strength and look forward to another vibrant season next academic year.
