Studd Gala Concert

Studd Gala Concert

Our Studd Gala Concert took place this weekend, with all proceeds going to the Suffolk Community Foundation. A raffle was also held to raise funds for the Centennial Bursary Campaign.

The concert was held in memory of alumnus Professor John Studd, an eminent gynaecologist who pioneered HRT treatment for the menopause, and we were delighted to be joined for the evening by members of his family.

Our Chapel Choir, Chamber Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band and Big Band all performed at the concert as well as our string, flute, clarinet and percussion ensembles and a saxophone quartet. We were also treated to one of the winning entries from this year’s House Shout, a rendition of ‘Earth Angel’ by the St Vincent harmony group.

We also welcomed back some of our alumni: Jon Courtenay (Blake, 1991), the 2020 winner of Britain’s Got Talent; Timothy Kwan (Collingwood, 2004); Ollie Moore (Drake, 2018); Ella Finch (Anson, 2018); and William Ward (St Vincent, 1975).

There were so many wonderful performances from our talented pupils, staff and alumni. Amongst the highlights were the performances by Jon Courtenay, who treated us to his medley, ‘I Love A Piano’ and ‘I Wish I’d Asked Him More’, as well as Timothy Kwan on the organ, playing the vibrant ‘Il Toccata’ from the Uzbekistan Suite by Georgi Mushel.

The Concert Band, along with an impressive display by our Corps of Drums, brought the evening to an end.
