Sports Awards

🎉 Celebrating a fantastic year of sports at RHS! 🎉

Our pupils and sports staff gathered to honour our outstanding athletes and their remarkable achievements over the past academic year.

From outstanding sailing to dominating basketball matches, our teams have made us proud. Our 1st XI girls' hockey and netball teams have excelled, reaching regional finals. Also, congratulations to the boys' cricket team for their triumph in the County Final!

A special mention goes to the Hunter sisters for their remarkable partnership in girls' cricket and also to Seb K who is currently competing on the Olympic Sailing circuit.

We extend our gratitude to our guest speaker, Patrick Foster, for enlightening us on mental health. Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating this exceptional year of sports and well done to all our award finalists!

Senior Sports Dinner Awards

Cross Country:

Isabella B

  • Of the two fixtures Isabella competed in, she won one race and came third in the other; qualified for the Suffolk Schools team; won the senior girls inter-house and was the fastest girl in the mini-marathon, coming ninth overall.

Sean E

  • Won the intermediate boys individual trophy in our fixture league and contributed to the inter boys winning the team event in that league; Sean won three out of his four races in the league. Sean was also picked to be part of the Suffolk Schools team. He came second in the inter-house cross country, despite competing against pupils in Years 12 and 13.

Football:

Jasper F

  • In a tough season for the senior footballers, Jasper stood out for his committed contributions in midfield, where his unfailing energy often led to key contributions at both ends of the pitch. His quality on the ball, combined with his tenacious approach to defensive work, earns him the player of the season award, and I am sure he will emerge as a real leader in the side in the next two years.

Horse Riding:

Maisy H

  • Maisy has been a consistent rider throughout this year. She has contributed to the RHS horse riding programme, assisting with the development of the riding team and representing RHS on multiple occasions at riding events. Maisy’s efforts and dedication to horse riding led the team to success at Royal Windsor this year.

Paddling:

Jacob W

  • Came fifth (in a team with Toby C) in the recent Devizes to Westminster race - often described as the canoeist's Everest. A part of last year's winning crew. Has always been a great ambassador for canoeing and kayaking.

Swimming:

Grace G

  • Committed lifeguard and always reliable. A great captain of the swim team!

Tennis:

James H

  • James has played an excellent level of tennis over the summer, competing in the senior boys' team and winning many of his matches. He continued to train and compete each week, even while juggling his GCSE exams. (Only Mr Cooper was able to challenge him!!)

Athletics:

Daniella O

  • County final medallist. Always committed to training and a dedicated athlete all round.

Josh O

  • The most caring and dedicated athlete!! Six medals won at the county championships and has been committed to school athletics throughout his time at RHS.

Basketball:

Performance: Antonio AP

  • Our most outstanding and truly inspirational player, who in his final year took part in 10 out of 12 fixtures with another impressive set of stats - an average of 26.4pts per game.

Contribution: Alex S

  • A very dedicated team captain, who in his final year competed in 9 out of 12 matches, and averaged 15.67 points.

Cricket:

Performance: Maisy H

  • She has proven herself to be an extremely valuable member of the 1st XI for the past three seasons. She has performed consistently well with both the bat and the ball and is currently the leading run scorer in the team and is averaging 38. This year she was selected to be captain and has done a brilliant job, leading the team to wins against The Leys and Norwich School. She has really set the tone for the rest of the team this year and has shown herself to be passionate and someone who can always be relied upon to show up when the going gets tough.

Contribution: Millie P

  • She has been a regular player in the 1st XI over the past three seasons, playing a vital role as the wicketkeeper in the side. She stepped up to open the batting when the team needed someone to take on that role, something which is not an easy task. She has been a passionate and committed servant of RHS cricket throughout her time at the school and is someone who has worked incredibly hard on her game and, as a result, has made a great deal of progress.

Performance: Charlie A

  • Has proven himself to be an exceptional talent and in the past year has represented London & East in the ECB Super 4s competition and opened the batting for the Essex 2nd XI. He has scored over 400 runs this season, including at least 50 in each round of the National T20, the highlight being a stunning 104 from just 58 balls in the defeat to Gresham's.

Contribution: Cam P

  • One of the most consistent performers in the 1st XI and undoubtedly the most improved player over the past two years, Cam has evolved into a dangerous opening bowler and is comfortably the leading wicket taker in the 1st XI this season, with the highlight being his 5 for 43 at Norwich. But more than that, he has been a passionate and committed servant of RHS cricket and is someone who can always be relied upon to show up when the going gets tough.

Hockey:

Performance: Rosie C

  • An outstanding season in the girls' 1st XI, always reliable in the midfield, working tirelessly to create attacking chances and tracking back into defence. She is unassuming, but has superb tactical awareness.

Contribution: Lily I

  • As 1st XI GK, Lily has devoted her years at RHS to mastering her position and training and playing in all matches throughout her time here. She also has dedicated her free time to assist with coaching of the U14 girls and will help any of the GKs when needed.

Performance: Noah A

  • Most Man of the match performances this season. Work horse in midfield and the only player who asks to come off the pitch because he has worked so hard.

Contribution: Oli C

  • Captain of the boys 1st XI and vice-captain last year. He has organised and motivated the boys through the indoor and outdoor seasons. He also has watched and supported the younger age group teams when time has allowed.

Netball:

Performance: Nikaiya F

  • She was an integral part of the senior 1s this year and one of the most consistent performers throughout. She dominates the shooting circle regardless of her opposition and her shooting accuracy, rebounding and powerful drives have more than contributed to the team's success.

Contribution: Rose D

  • She has been a steadfast member of RHS netball from day one and her dedication and eagerness to learn make her a crucial part of the senior 2s defensive unit. She goes above and beyond for the netball programme and is someone that the coaching staff can always rely on to bring enthusiasm and intensity.

Rugby:

Performance: Antonio AP

  • He was a dominant figure for the 1st XV, despite still be relatively new to the game. His physicality and energy was outstanding and gave the team much of its ‘go forward’. He was often the standout player for RHS with his lines of running and ball handling a real advantage.

Contribution: Jamie M

  • He has been a stalwart of RHS rugby and a key member of the 1st XV for two years, alongside representing the school with distinction for his whole school career & 1st XV captain this year.

Sailing:

Performance: Seb K

  • Attended four world championships, placing in the top ten in each of them. Currently competing on the Olympic racing circuit. Part of the first RHS team to compete at the prestigious Wilson Trophy, finishing 20th out of 32 teams in this international team racing competition.

Contribution: Oscar O

  • He has represented RHS at every opportunity and in a range of racing formats. Displays an excellent attitude to training, exemplifying all the key attributes of an athlete. Shows consistent commitment to helping with Year 10 sailing through the Sports Leaders scheme. Qualified sailing instructor.
