Ski trip report, given by 12 pupils, read in assembly.
We all had a good night’s sleep boarding in Blake with an early rise at 12o'clock in the morning, feeling well rested we headed out, ready for our 6 am take off for our flight to Munich airport.
We arrived to find ourselves in the midst of a snowstorm and had to trek up the mountain with all our luggage, since the bus couldn’t make it up. Despite some of us being in less-than-ideal footwear like crocs and deck shoes, we eventually made it to our destination, where we settled in comfortably.
After our adventurous trip to the ski rental shop, a spontaneous snowball fight broke out, and Mr Wilby unexpectedly found himself in the middle of the action. After obtaining our ski gear, we hiked back up to the hotel and had a great meal of steak and chips! We all then collapsed into a much-needed night's rest.
Our days were packed with excitement as pupils, along with Mrs Maloney and Mrs Finley, glided down the slopes on skis, while Mr Maloney, Mr Gurur, and Mr Wilby showed off their snowboarding skills. Despite some slushy conditions on the last day, everyone, including our beginners, reached the top of the mountain! Our instructors were quite impressed with our progress.
Our journey wasn't without its challenges. On day 2, an unfortunate hand injury led to Mr Maloney's first of three hospital visits. Despite this setback, our spirits remained high, and the rest of the trip was filled with unforgettable moments.
Evenings were a blast! Swimming, bowling, pizza nights, and Mr Gurur’s Quiz all provided great entertainment. Year 12 had a social night up at the bar with the teachers before playing some games.
Exhausted but happy from an amazing week it was sad to leave the Austrian mountains behind.
We highly recommend future ski trips to all pupils and we want to say a massive thank you to Mr and Mrs Maloney, Mr Gurur, Mr Wilby and Mrs Finley, who were all so much fun and took great care of us. To all the pupils who came on the trip, you were all amazing and helped make it the perfect last RHS ski trip for us.
