Sailing Captain

Sailing Captain

We're delighted to introduce our newly appointed Sailing Captain, Georgie S! With a passion for the open sea that started at the age of 9, Georgie has been sailing at our school since joining in Year 7.

Georgie understands the power of teamwork and individual excellence. She’s competed at events like the British Keelboat League Finals and the Youth Team Racing Championships.

Georgie aims to create a united and supportive atmosphere within RHS Sailing. She aims to keep spirits high and motivate all teams to give their best, defending our current titles and setting their sights on new ones.

Georgie comments on how RHS has helped her reach a high level of sailing: “With training taking place twice a week and the school having a wide range of boats, the sailing coaches are constantly developing our sailing skills and pushing us to be the best we can be. The school has allowed me to attend a lot of highly competitive events with the school team whether that be team racing or fleet racing. This time last year school took me to Weymouth speed week where I gained my foiling qualification and i was lucky enough to sail a historic foiling catamaran called Icarus. In Year 12 I also gained my dinghy instructor qualifications through the sailing elective at school.”

Georgie has big plans for the future. She aspires to study marine science at university while continuing to sail and compete in a university sailing team. Plus, she has completed a Day Skipper Yacht Course and gained her Dinghy Instructor qualification and would like to share her passion and knowledge with others.
