Riding review

The equestrian team have continued to ride with competitive style and edge this year, with successes across a number of regional and national competitions.

Early in the year saw the team rise to 6th position in the regional points league as a result of high placing rounds at the Keysoe Regional Championships. Shortly after, the team really began to hit their stride at the Plate Championships, with our three teams coming away with a first place and two seconds overall.

Riding for qualification to the Keysoe National Championships the teams all performed outstandingly at Forest Edge in March. RHS came away with a team first in the 1m and a team second in the 90cm for Maisy, Martha, Molly and Sophie - with Martha, Sophie and Harriet bringing home individual 1st, 4th and 5th respectively.

The Boyton Hall qualifiers saw similar successes with team; this time including Esme, achieving 1st, in the 1m competition and 2nd and 3rd placings in the 90cm competition. Individually, Holly performed well in the 70 and 80 competitions, whilst Martha and Sophie excelled achieving two firsts and a third between them.

The team saved the high-profile competitions for the Summer Term. Our team of Sophie, Maisy and Mia performed brilliantly to place 7th at the Royal Windsor Horse show that was attended by HM The Queen and other members of the Royal Family including the Countess of Wessex.

Their final outing this term was the prestigious Hickstead National Eventer's Challenge Championships, at which our 90cm and 1m teams performed admirably against a huge field. Sophie was particularly impressive securing an outstanding individual 3rd out of 89 overall.

We look forward to an exciting season ahead with Sophie, Maisy, Martha, Molly, Esme, Mia, Holly, Poppy and Ben all having qualified for the next Keysoe Championships in October.
