George Franks (Cornwallis, 1981) a professional photographer, working with Pro Sport Images and Lancashire Cricket Club, returned to RHS for the second year to share his professional expertise, leading a hands-on sports photography masterclass during Sports Day.
During the masterclass, Art Scholars, Leighla (Year 9), Bea (Year 12), Sofiia (Year 12) and Kathryn (Year 12) had the chance to use George’s own photography equipment and learn valuable techniques for capturing dynamic action shots. From freezing a moment of movement to framing fast-paced sports scenes, George guided students through the creative and technical aspects of sports photography.
George said, "I loved coming back for the second year and passing on my love of photography to the pupils. I began my journey in photography at RHS and feel, as it’s given me so much, I like to give something back. All the pupils were very eager and produced some amazing shots at Sports Day, despite the blistering heat. I hope they had as much fun as I did. Thank you."
The experience continued into Monday morning, when pupils took part in a post-production session where they explored editing techniques and learned how to refine their images, developing not just their technical skills but also their creative confidence. Harriet Barber, Head of Art said, "we are incredibly proud of the girls and think the images that they have created are amazing!"
