The U13s had a great day at the Northampton Saints Finals Day last week.
After two tough matches in Pool 1 against NSB and then Royal Latin School they qualified into the Bowl competition. Despite NSB leading at halftime 2-1 with two excellent tries from Wilf, both set up by some fantastic passing from Harry M, who found space with width and vision.
The team cohesion came together in their second match against The Cotswold's School where they won 4-2. Leo T with the pick of the bunch turning pressure into points and fly hacking the ball behind the defence, accelerated through and collected the ball with a great pick up and powered over the line.
An early intercept from Wilf took RHS into an early lead. RHS were then on the front foot and playing with confidence going 3-1 up. Monty produced a lovely in-and-out move – a classic show-and-go – before putting Will M into space with perfect timing, allowing Will to finish strongly under the posts. Maidwell Hall School came back into the game in the second half and took the lead right at the end.
Despite just missing out on a chance to play in the stadium, this doesn’t take away from an outstanding day of rugby and a brilliant achievement. Reaching the Finals is something only three RHS teams have done before – a proud moment for all involved!
