Iceland 2023

🔥 ICELAND❄️

In late August, 24 adventurous Year 13 geographers, accompanied by three incredibly enthusiastic geography teachers, embarked on an unforgettable journey to Iceland. Their Icelandic expedition kicked off in Reykjavik, the vibrant capital, where they watched a Lava Show and experienced a 'Fly Over' of Iceland.

But this wasn't your typical tourist excursion - they then ventured on to the Westman Islands, where our geographers experienced a glacier hike on Solheimajokull. A remarkable classroom experience took place on top of a volcano as pupils delved into the fascinating world of tectonic plates.

Throughout their adventure, our enthusiastic explorers had the opportunity to have 360 degree experiences of waterfalls, visit black sand beaches with dramatic basalt columns, stand between the continental plates, indulge in the soothing waters of the Blue Lagoon and explore a captivating lava tunnel.
