Horse Riding Success!

The RHS equestrian team had an incredible day at Forest Edge equestrian centre, competing in a showjumping qualifier for the National Championships. The team, consisting of Molly N (Year 13), Matteo C-Q (Year 12), and Maisie L (Year 9), secured a spectacular win in the 90cm class, finishing an impressive 20 seconds ahead of schools from Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, and Cambridgeshire.

Each team member performed exceptionally well.

Matteo C-Q represented the school team for the first time, which is a fantastic feat as he has only been riding since October. He delivered fast double clears in both classes, earning 2nd place in the 90cm and 2nd in the 1m, which qualifies him as an individual for Nationals in both classes.

Molly N, the team captain, rode two flawless textbook rounds, finishing 4th in the 90cm, qualifying as an individual for National, and 6th in the 1m.

Maisie L also contributed greatly to the team’s success, riding with more confidence and precision to secure this fantastic team achievement.

Molly comments: “I am so proud of the team for their enthusiasm and dedication that has led to both personal and collaborative success. Despite having fewer team members than others, they overcame the pressure and we look forward to our next competition. Special thanks goes to our team manager, parents and everyone who has helped us.”

This result is particularly significant as the team consists of only three riders, meaning every round counts towards the overall score, with no room for error. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their sport have been exemplary.

The team now looks ahead to their next competition: Hickstead Arena Eventing qualifier in Essex on 23rd February.

Best of luck to them!
