Hockey World Champion

RHS’s own Head of Hockey, Sarah Daley did exceptionally well over the summer, winning her third gold medal in the World Cup O40s England Masters 2022.  The tournament took place at the Nottingham Beeston Hockey Centre between the 12th– 21st of August. Overall, Sarah played six games including the final where England won 2-0 against Argentina. During the championship Sarah scored four open play goals and was a top 10 goal scorer for the overall tournament, a tremendous achievement.

Sarah comments, ‘Hockey requires dedication, resilience and commitment. I have given so much to the sport over the years and it has given me so much enjoyment and satisfaction. I have had to overcome several injuries this year and had the difficulty of tailoring my training around it to ensure that I can give everything I can. I am so dedicated to the team and although there are sacrifices along the way, the fulfilment of playing so well and being part of a successful team provides an immense feeling of accomplishment. I can see that all my hard work is paying off.’

This year Sarah will continue to play for Ipswich Hockey Club but will be stepping down from playing in the national league this year, to focus on coaching. Sarah will continue to inspire and encourage our RHS pupils to challenge themselves and get the most out of their time here.

We are all very proud of our World Champion!
