Heads of School Announcement

We are delighted to announce that our Heads of School this year are Mathilda K and Oliver G-D, supported by our Deputy Heads of School Daniil D, Helena M, Tami D and Theo G.

We asked them how they felt to be chosen, what they plan to do and what they want to do after school.

Mathilda K, Head of School

“I am very excited to take up my new role as head of school, it is a huge privilege, and I can't wait to work closely with all the new heads of school and prefects this year.

I hope to be someone pupils lower down in the school can look up to as both a role model and for any extra support they may need as well as playing an active role in making the school the best place possible for both pupils and staff.

I hope to study philosophy before completing a law conversion.”

Oliver G-D, Head of School

“It has been an aspiration of mine for several years but honestly it still feels a little unreal to be picked as head of school and, while at times it seems daunting, I am incredibly excited to get started and it is certainly a new challenge I will enjoy rising too!

I want everyone to try something new. We’re really fortunate at RHS to have an amazing site and staff, allowing us to have a myriad of clubs and activities on offer and I will be encouraging everyone to try something new and step outside their comfort zone. I would also like to instil a greater sense of pride in each house and the school as a whole, whether that be pride in your appearance, pride in your academics or pride in your achievements.

Beyond school, I will be studying computer science at university as I thoroughly enjoy analysing problems and developing a solution. It is a dynamic and diverse area with millions of applications, and I think it will lead to a fascinating career and hopefully great opportunities around the globe.”

Daniil D, Deputy Head of School

“It does still feel strange, because coming here in Year 8 from another country with no friends here, the school became my second home. I was reliant on prefects and upper year groups to show me the way, and now I have the ability to do the same and help others enjoy their time. However, I do feel like it is something I enjoy - giving back and being a good role model.

I hope to let others thrive in such an enriching environment. I want to show pupils what can be achieved, that everyone has a place, and can find their passions in this school. But equally I want to do well academically and achieve high grades in my A Levels.

I am not yet set on my future aspirations. I really enjoy the IT industry, but engineering has a special place in my heart. Hopefully, I can use the skill set earned at RHS to combine the two. The best case scenario is that I can get an apprenticeship.”

Helena M, Deputy Head of School

“The feeling has not settled, it feels so surreal. I am honoured that I can give back to the school and hopefully make a big impact from this role. If you had told me a couple years back that I would become one of the senior prefects I probably wouldn’t have believed you and laughed about it but I’m so glad to be here right now and look forward to working with the rest of the team.

I hope I can encourage people to get out of their comfort zones and get more involved in school life, to not be afraid to ask questions and create a more welcoming and open environment.

I aspire to be in a field where I help people, hopefully as a physiotherapist travelling the world, however I am not closed off to different options, the idea of air traffic control has sparked my interest recently!”

Tami D, Deputy Head of School

“I feel very honoured, especially as I have only been at RHS for one year. Having seen the previous heads of school work so well together, I know there are large shoes to fill. The great responsibility that comes with this role is clear, but I am very excited to take it on and for all that is to come this year.

The most important thing for me is to project the same warm and welcoming attitude that I encountered when starting RHS. Being able to inspire others and encourage people to do their best is a huge gift and I feel like I have been given the opportunity to do so. RHS is full of so many experiences and the spirit of the school is always evident, so promoting this and helping pupils gain as much as they can out of school, as well as giving back is amazing.

I am applying to medical school, with hopes of becoming a doctor.”

Theo G, Deputy Head of School

“I feel immensely proud to be a Deputy Head of School (especially as my sister, Grace, was one) and I am very excited for this year! The Heads and Deputy Heads of School play such a large role in helping to ensure the smooth running of the school and the carrying out of ceremonial duties, so to be one and have such an impact on the school is a great honour.

I want to make sure that everyone enjoys their time here at RHS, whether they are here for a term or the full seven years, as I think what this place has to offer is undeniably special. I think that as a group, the senior prefects would like to raise the standards of dress at the school so that everyone is smart and well turned out. Most of all though, I want to ensure that people take pride in themselves and what they do, as this will hopefully create a thriving community and help nurture lifelong friendships.

After school I would like to go to university and study Middle Eastern Studies with Arabic and then hopefully become a Royal Marines officer or join the Army as an officer.”
