Guitar Masterclass

Our young guitarists were very fortunate to perform in a masterclass with professional guitarist Jake Willson last week. Jake studied jazz at Berklee College of Music, USA, before returning to the UK to complete a PhD in classical composition at the University of Surrey.  

Pupils performed on a variety of guitars (electric, bass and classical) and Jake was able to offer them all some advice, along with a few professional tips (a.k.a. top-level industry secrets), in order to move their playing onto the next level.  

The audience were treated to a short 'jam session' at the end of the evening by Jake and guitar teachers Mr Pells and Mr Morgan. Year 12 guitarist Emi S said, "I found the whole experience very valuable and have lots of new ideas to try out."  

RHS Music's next instrumental masterclass, which takes place on Thursday 16 March 2023 at 7pm, will be led by trumpeter Matilda Lloyd.
