RHS swimmers compete in the Great East Swim

Congratulations to the 33 swimmers from RHS who completed the Great East Swim at Alton Water on Saturday. 

The conditions were tough for the pupils, with a very strong current for the first half of the course and very cold waters of 18 degrees Celsius. All RHS pupils did extremely well, either competing in their first open water event or challenging themselves in these tough conditions to achieve a new personal best. Stand out performances were Tom H in the 2 mile event with a time of 55:38, Charlie T and Sarah M in the 1 mile race, 25:02 and 26:09 respectively, and Dan L, a Year 8 pupil, with the fastest RHS 1/2 mile time of 12:02.

We are pleased to say that a number of pupils enjoyed the training and competing at the Great East Swim so much that they will now go on to compete at the London Great Swim in July!
