Our Gold Expedition pupils were immediately put to the test as they set off for their four-day, three-night expedition at the start of the Easter holidays. On the first day, they were met with challenging conditions, including winds of up to 40mph, along with rain, snow and hail.
Prioritising safety, the decision was made in the morning to revise the planned route. The teams adapted quickly and demonstrated resilience, making their way to a lower altitude where they continued the expedition.
Over the following days, they hiked through some of the most breathtaking and remote landscapes in the Scottish Highlands, rarely encountering anyone outside of their expedition groups. The teams experienced both the toughest conditions and the most rewarding moments (with the sun even making a welcome appearance).
Throughout the expedition, pupils showed outstanding determination, maintaining high spirits and even finding humour in adversity. As the days progressed the teams bonded and grew in confidence.
This resulted in one team successfully passing their assessment, while the training team gained valuable experience and essential knowledge in preparation for their own.
A huge well done and thank you to everyone involved for their resilience, positivity and teamwork throughout the expedition.
