ESU Regional Finalists

The school debating team, consisting of Toby C, Ayoola O and Eve H, travelled to Langley on 23 January for the second heat of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) Schools' Mace debating competition. They were proposing the motion ‘This House would ban countries with a poor human rights record from hosting sporting events’. Faced with tough opposition from Framlingham School, all three of them spoke very well, showing a depth of knowledge about the topic and the extent of their preparation for this debate.  At the end of the evening, RHS was one of two schools to make it through to the next round of the competition - the regional finals! The judge praised Toby, in particular, as the stand-out speaker of the evening, while also commenting on how well our pupils worked as a team.
