Co-Educational Independent School of the Year Finalist
We are finalists in the prestigious Independent School of the Year Awards! RHS fought off stiff competition from over 200 entries to be named as a finalist in the Co-Educational Independent School of the Year category, after being shortlisted back in July 2022. We will go head-to-head with five other independent schools at a prestigious awards ceremony, to be held in London on Tuesday 11th October.
Independent Schools of the Year 2022 is an awards programme brought to the public by the Independent School Parent magazine, designed to showcase independent schools’ success stories and celebrate the extraordinary and compelling student experience that independent schools provide.
Our submission included evidence of our recent ISI Inspection in November 2021, which awarded RHS the highest possible grading of 'Excellent' in all areas. Comments from inspectors included:
“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are excellent; they develop intellectual
curiosity and academic confidence.”
“The excellent range of extra-curricular activities is a major factor in
pupils’ enjoyment of school.”
“Pupils are excellent communicators, fluent and poised.”
Our enormous array of co-curricular experiences on campus was also commended. How many other schools can boast a sailing academy and a Youth World Champion Sailor amongst its pupil body? And then there is our climbing wall, one of the biggest in East Anglia. Or perhaps your interest is music? The organ in our chapel is second in size only to that of Windsor Castle!
For those whose idea of the perfect sport is swimming, our indoor pool is just one metre short of the Olympic specification and we have our own 9-hole golf course on site, overlooking the River Stour. Our students are inspired to pursue their interests and talents, reach their ambitions and develop essential life skills so they can succeed in their own way.
Simon Lockyer, Headmaster, comments;
“We are delighted to have been recognised as one of the best co-educational independent schools in the country. At RHS, we aim our pupils to realise their full potential, enjoy their experience of learning and be empowered with the knowledge, skills, confidence and strength of character to go on to lead purposeful and happy lives. It is a real honour that our inspiring and well-rounded education has been recognised in this way”
