Charity Bike Ride

Charity Bike Ride for RMA

Year 13 pupil Joel S took part in a charity bike ride last weekend, raising over £490 for the Royal Marines Charity (RMA).

Even in the midst of A-Levels Joel completed the ride to raise money for the Royal Marines Charity (RMA), which offers life-long support to serving and retired marines. Accompanying him on his 56km cycle was Mr Wynn and Mr Havers in addition to former RHS teachers and friends, starting at the Suffolk Food Hall through to Felixstowe and back again.

This is not the only time Joel has raised money for the RMA; in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown  he set himself the task of cycling 500 miles in just 10 days and raised £593.

Joel has a strong determination to raise money for the RMA, as in the future he seeks to be a Royal Marine himself. During his time at RHS he has taken part in the Sir Stuart Pringle Trophy Competition at Lympstone in Year 11 alongside pupils in Sixth Form, where they are to undertake challenges in tough situations using their skills learnt though CCF training. He enjoyed this competition so much that he applied for and was fortunate to be selected for two separate five-day courses at Lympstone to gain more experience, but these were unfortunately cancelled due to COVID.
