Using your CEA allowance to fund places at the Royal Hospital School
If you are serving in the Royal Navy or Royal Marines you could be entitled to the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) to help you cover the fees to send your children to the Royal Hospital School.
The CEA is available to Ministry of Defence service personnel to help with funding places at boarding school so their spouse can accompany them on assignments without disrupting their children’s education.
The Royal Hospital School would be the perfect choice for RN and RM personnel considering boarding school for their children.
Firstly our focus is on inspiring our pupils to pursue their interests and make the most of their talents through learning and extra-curricular activities.
But more than that; we are very proud of our rich seafaring history and this maritime heritage lives on in the daily life of the School through divisions, a daily flag ceremony, naval commemorations and naming the school houses after prominent naval figures.
Founded in 1712 in Greenwich but located in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside overlooking the Rover Stour since 1933, the Royal Hospital School is one of the leading independent boarding schools in the country.
Applications are now open for children to start at the Royal Hospital School from September 2023.
If you want to know more about the experiences your child could enjoy at the Royal Hospital School, and how you could use your CEA allowance or apply for a means-tested bursary, come and meet our admissions team in Portsmouth on Thursday 3 November 2022.
Serving Royal Navy personnel can meet the school admissions team at the Leach Building, Whale Island between 12:00-14:00.
After that the admissions team will set up at The Royal Maritime Club, Queen Street, Portsea, from 15:00-20:00, also on Thursday 3 November 2022, to discuss opportunities that may be available to parents and their children.
We generally accept bursary applications for boarding places from the children of seafaring families whose parents have served in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, or Royal Fleet Auxiliary for a minimum of three years. They may be currently serving or retired.
