Careers Fair
Our annual careers fair took place recently, where all pupils from Year 10 upwards had the opportunity to meet and listen to a variety of professionals from different sectors.
Elin Kaemmer-Bailey from the University of East Anglia spoke to Year 10,11 and 12 about applying to university, with a focus on picking a university course for Year 11, and personal statements for Year 12.
Our Year 10s and 11s attended a careers talk from Lauren Bayliss-Fuller, Head of Community and Alumni Relations at RHS, about how personality types can link to different careers.
Workshops then followed for Years 11 to 13 which allowed them to listen to a various number of different speakers, with job titles ranging from a project manager, CEO, managing director, recruitment consultant and pilot to a nurse, senior scientist, online personal trainer and a principal.
After the workshops Year 13 enjoyed a networking supper in the library which allowed them to ask our guests questions and to build connections.
Pupils comment:
“It was really interesting to hear about people's individual experiences and career pathway”
“Very encouraging and informative.”
“A number of us were able to reach out to the speakers and get contact information regarding apprenticeships or work experience. “
“I really enjoyed the concept of wellness coaching, although this is not something I necessarily want to do in the future. I found it interesting to learn about how she created her online business.”
We are really grateful to all the professionals who took the time to speak and engage with our pupils. If you would like to offer your support to our next careers fair in January 2024, please let us know.
