Basketball Charity Event

Basketball Charity Event

Report by Nikaiyah F, Year 12

A basketball charity event, organised by the Philanthropy Committee, was a great success! The range of activities caught the attention of many boarders from every year group. Helena and I were in charge of running the 3-point challenge; despite it being difficult in certain areas, people were able to get the shot in and win prizes. We finished the night with a 2v2 competition, ensuring that lots of participants went home with Easter eggs.

The highlight of the night was a 3-point challenge between Mr Skau and the basketball team. It was tough for many and Mr Skau came out undefeated - well done Mr Skau! Having these games in place didn’t stop other pupils from having fun and creating their own basketball matches on the other court.

And last but not least the tuck shop ran by Teni, Daniella and Tami, assisted by Reverend Mumford, was a huge success, raising a lot of money as well as providing food and drinks for the hungry players. I would like to say thank you to Teni for putting in a lot of effort in setting this up for everybody; it was definitely a night to remember.

The event raised approximately £300 for some of our school charities; The Centenary Bursary Campaign, Suffolk Refugee Support and Volunteering Suffolk.
