Asian ILCA 6 Championships

On 9-15 December 2022 at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya, Thailand, Christopher Marsh (Year 12, Collingwood) took home the silver medal in the Asian ILCA 6 Championship!

The races were challenging as he started just half a day after his arrival from the UK but, despite that, by the third day of racing he found himself in 1st place with 2 days left, however some challenging races led to some lower results which pushed him to 2nd overall in the end.

Christopher’s nationality is Thai/British/South African and he came to RHS from Thailand in September. He chose to join the school as he had heard about our excellent sailing programme and friends who were former pupils recommended us to him.

Christopher, who is currently studying Business, Geography and Psychology, comments, “RHS has a fantastic sailing academy which organises some great training outside of school throughout the week, including fitness for sailing sessions. What I enjoy most at RHS is the sense of community. Being a new pupil, I felt that the school did a really nice job at helping me and the other new pupils to settle in. Compared to my old school in Thailand, RHS is very different - from the uniform to how the days are structured, and of course the climate here.”

This summer Christopher will be racing internationally at continental and world championships in Norway, Spain, Poland and Morocco, where he hopes to deliver some good results.

Well done Christopher and good luck in the summer!
