Royal Hospital School Pupils Achieve Highest Ever Percentage of A* Grades in A Level Results
We are thrilled to share that our Year 13 cohort have performed extremely well in both their A Level and BTEC examinations, securing some outstanding results for the school, particularly at the top end. This year, we have seen a year-on-year improvement in the highest grades, with 40% of all grades being A*-A or equivalent. We are also celebrating our highest ever percentage of A*/Distinction* grades and 25% of pupils achieving AAA (or equivalent) or higher (excluding the pandemic years), and are proud that 92% of those applying via UCAS, have today secured a place at their university of choice.
Highlights
- 11.3% A*/Distinction*
- 40% A*/Distinction* A/Distinction
- 25% of pupils achieved three A grades (or equivalent) or better
- BTEC performances were extremely strong with over three quarters of grades being Distinction* or Distinction (equivalent to A*/A grade at A Level)
- 92% of pupils secured at place at their university of choice
Simon Lockyer, Headmaster, comments: “We are incredibly proud of our pupils' outstanding achievements in this year's examinations as they achieved the best results on record at the A* to B grade. High marks at A Level and BTEC do not come without hard work and a willingness to prioritise their studies, and I am delighted that this commitment has been rewarded. RHS is a strong community and teachers and all the staff at the school continue to encourage and support our pupils to achieve the highest grades possible, and therefore we are delighted to see 40% of grades at B grade/Distinction or above. I am really delighted for the pupils, with so many accessing their first choice university, but I am also pleased for their teachers and all the staff who teach, support and encourage the pupils to achieve their best. Congratulations to each and every one of them and we are excited to see what the future holds for these talented individuals as they embark on the next stage of their academic and professional journeys.”
Catherine Stevens, Deputy Head (Academic), also comments: “I am thrilled to celebrate the exceptional A-level results achieved by our pupils this year and to see their hard work reflected in a record number of top grades at both A Level and BTEC. Each year we have seen the school improve its performance in the rankings whilst observing the pupil’s enduring commitment to the wider curriculum. I am constantly amazed by the ability of the top performers who achieve high grades alongside performing in sport, music and drama at the highest level. It is the combination of high achievement and breadth of interests and skills that I think stands our pupils in such a good position for the future. We should also acknowledge that none of this would be possible without our fantastic staff. Congratulations to all our pupils on their well-deserved success.”
The whole RHS community share their heartfelt congratulations with our wonderful year 13 cohort and look forward to following their journeys as RHS Alumni #PartOfRHS.
