RHS sailors gain the National Schools title and defend the Kings Challenge Cup

This weekend three RHS sailing teams competed in two regattas. On Saturday, our two senior squads took part in the BSDRA Kings Challenge Cup in Canterbury. After some close racing, in testing conditions, our firsts came out on top, thus defending the title we won last year.

Our single handed team racing squad travelled to Birmingham for the National Schools Sailing Association (NSSA) Single Handed Team Racing Regatta. After a slight hiccup on Saturday, the team finished the first day in joint 4th spot. This was then followed by a winning streak on morning, leaving RHS 1st after the round robin. The team then continued to improve and the final between RHS and Torquay Boys’ School went down to the wire, with RHS winning the final race on the last leg.

As a result the RHS team of Daniel P, Harry BK and Arthur B took the Britannia Gig Trophy and the U18 National Schools title, as well as the Angus Wesley Trophy for the best under 16 Team.
