HERITAGE CAFÉ

Our Heritage Café is a wonderful addition to the RHS campus. Located in the former Heritage Centre, which once housed archives and artefacts telling the story of RHS days gone by, the new café perfectly blends the old and the new. We have installed up-to-date, modern equipment to rival high street cafés, and provided a great environment for pupils, staff and parents to enjoy a drink and snack together.

MENU

The café serves a selection of hot and cold drinks – organically sourced coffee, a selection of teas, delicious Italian-style hot chocolate and milkshakes, all with optional flavours. We will also stock cold cans and smoothies.

Foodwise, we serve a selection of tasty treats, including muffins, flapjacks, ice-creams, crisps and chocolate. Paninis will also be available after 15:30.

All our disposable cups are compostable and reusable thermos cups are available to purchase.

OUR COFFEE - RHS ROAST

In the summer of 2022, a group of pupils and staff met with our partner, Freshpac, to create a blend of coffee that would be unique to RHS.

Our resulting “Buonissimo” Italian-style coffee is of a high grade, using a combination of single estate, fully traceable direct trade coffee from Brazil as well as ethically sourced beans from Central America and SE Asia, all of which are then roasted on-site in Halesworth.

OUR PARTNER - FRESHPAC

Freshpac is a family-run, Suffolk-based business, established in 1979 by Gerald and Queenie Salter. Their passion for coffee and customer service shone through in the tender process, and they are continually investing in their processes, roasting all coffee beans on their site in Halesworth.

They have a direct trade relationship with regards to coffee, investing in local farms in Cameroon, supporting farmers from both traditional areas and lesser-known coffee growing regions of India, and are now working directly with the Mió Fazenda in Brazil from where they import 100% of the Brazil coffee they use. They do not own a single bush in all three farms they work with, so that the farms remain firmly within the families' hands and investment can continue to improve the lives of local people for the long term. All coffee is ethically sourced, either direct from the farmers or from importers who share the same fair and ethical values.

In addition, they also offer Suffolk produce and are supporters of local family-run businesses for their soft drinks and milk products. Freshpac are proud to hold a Bronze Carbon Charter Award, having committed to plastic usage reduction, invested in LED lighting and insulation, and also provide fully compostable cups, packaging and boxes, as well as recyclable lids to ensure that their, and our, carbon footprint continues to reduce.
