We are delighted to announce that our Year 13 cohort have performed extremely well in both their A Level and BTEC examinations, securing some outstanding results for the school, particularly at the top end.
EXAMINATION RESULTS
We stretch our most able pupils so that they are able to realise their full potential. As well as adding value to the highest achievers, we also ensure that those who need more help are supported and advised, so that they too do well and exceed their expectations.
GCSE
Pupils in Year 11 take 9 or 10 GCSE subjects and the percentage of 9-4 (A* to C) grades is consistently around 95%. On average, 48% of grades are 9-7 (A* or A) or equivalent. For a breakdown of GCSE results by subject, please follow the links below:
A Level / BTEC
Year 13 pupils take 3 or 4 A Levels as well as an academic elective subject or Extended Project Qualification contributing towards his or her total UCAS points. On average, 40% of grades are A* or A and a breakdown of results can be found below:

Toby Chavasse, Head Boy, was one of our top performers, gaining an A* in Chemistry and three A grades in Biology, Latin and Mathematics, securing his offer to read Biochemistry at the University of Bath.
Rose Dixon, Deputy Head Girl, achieved a fabulous set of exam results, gaining an A*, two As and a B in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Biology, securing her place to read Biochemistry at University College London.
Isabella Bunnag, Head Girl, is delighted to be taking her place to read Psychology at Newcastle, having secured two A grades and a B grade in Geography, Psychology and French respectively.
Ollie Woods, Deputy Head of School, achieved an impressive trio of A grades in History, Music and Spanish, to secure him a choral scholarship at Durham University to study Modern Languages & Cultures (Russian & Spanish).
Sebastian Kempe, one of our top sailing scholars, has secured his place to study Yacht Design and Production at Solent University in Southampton.
GCSE Results News
The Royal Hospital School is celebrating a bumper year of grade 9s, with pupils gaining 101 grade 9s between them: the largest number of 9s achieved by a RHS cohort. This is a significant achievement for this broad ability and diverse cohort, whose GCSE foundation years were badly affected by the pandemic.
Molly achieved an incredible clean sweep of ten grade 9s in her GCSEs, the school’s top performer this year.
Jesse is our top performing boy this year, having gained a fabulous set of GCSEs results, all graded 8s and 9s. He sat ten GCSEs in Biology, Business, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics and Physics, and will be going on to study Economics, Further Mathematics, Physics A Levels in our Sixth Form.
Phoebe Graham was one of our top achievers this year, gaining a fantastic set of GCSEs, with seven grade 9s and two grade 8s in Biology, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physics and Science!
Harriet is delighted to have gained all grade 7 to 9s in her ten GCSEs, with grade 9s achieved in Biology, Food Technology and History. Harriet will be going on to study Design & Technology, History and Psychology in our Sixth Form from September
