FESTIVAL OF THE SEA

The Royal Hospital School is hosting a Festival of the Sea weekend of celebrations to celebrate HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The Countess of Euston, H.M. Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, invited the School to host such an event due to our Naval heritage and our close links to the Royal Navy.

This is one of many events being run as part of the Festival of Suffolk. Many counties in the UK are also hosting a Festival of the Sea, including Suffolk, which is taking place on the weekend after our celebrations (18/19 June).

The event is open to the public and free of charge to attend. Please see map and programme below. The site does not have much shade, so please do wear sunscreen and hats if sunny, and bring umbrellas if rain is forecast.

Parking - This will be available nearby at Alton Water (paid parking) which is a five minute walk away; we will have a drop-off zone at the front of school to allow for easy access. SATNAV: IP9 2RX

Accessibility and blue badge holder parking - This will be available on the school site, but please note that activities will take place on different levels and terrain. Accessible toilets will be available in the Music School.

Refreshments - These will be available to purchase and guests are welcome to bring rugs to picnic in the grounds. A water source will be available to refill water bottles.

Dogs - We do not recommend bringing dogs due to bangs and flares being used at the event; if you do bring them, they must be kept on a lead at all times.

Rubbish - We will have some waste bins on site, but we kindly ask that you take your litter home and recycle it where possible.

We have teamed up with the Royal Navy and other nautical associations to provide a wonderful afternoon of activities, displays and stalls for all the family to enjoy.
