Report given at the end of term assembly by Mr Nick Platt, Director of Sport and our Sport Captains.
NETBALL
Netball is the main sport played by girls in the Lent term. Senior girls participate in one games session per week and one after school practice. Junior teams take part in two games sessions per week and compete in weekly competitive fixtures at A-C team level. They also receive extra training as part of our junior programme, which runs throughout the Michaelmas and Lent terms. As of 2023, junior boys will take part in the netball programme during the Michaelmas term, hopefully a step toward the school’s first competitive male netball squad.
We run fixtures at A-D team level against a strong circuit of schools, with matches taking place both mid-week and on Saturday afternoons. Each year we enter the national schools netball competition, involving all age groups and have been fortunate to progress to the regional stages on numerous occasions.
With six outdoor hard courts and one indoor court, we are able to fulfil an extensive fixture card and ensure that all pupils have an opportunity to participate. We are also fortunate to have access to Veo AI video technology, which is used by both staff and pupils for match and training analysis.
Pupils have high quality coaching from several experienced netball specialists within our staff body. They impart invaluable knowledge that allows pupils to develop their technical and tactical understanding of the game.
We have cultivated strong links with local clubs, county pathways and local franchises such as London Pulse and Saracens Mavericks and are fortunate to have RHS representation at every level
Netball News
