POLITICS
A Level Politics
The new Politics course was launched in 2017. All exams will be at the end of Year 13. The course followed is the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in Politics (9PL0). The Year 12 politics course consists primarily of British government and politics, with Year 13 focusing on the American system of government and politics. There is also an opportunity to study political ideas. The aim of the syllabus is to develop a critical, rigorous and analytical approach to the study of politics, and to help pupils to develop interpretative and evaluative skills to distinguish between evidence and opinion. The course will go a long way towards making television news watching a more intelligible and interesting experience.
