Medical Matters

Matron looks after the health and wellbeing of pupils in each house but there is also a large, fully equipped Heath Centre with qualified nurses, a physiotherapist and counsellor available.

the School Doctor

Full boarders and weekly boarders where requested by parents are registered with the School Doctor who holds regular surgeries and there is access to both male and female doctors. Three-night boarders and day pupils should remain registered with their own family GPs but in the case of illness, they will be cared for in our Health Centre until collected by their parents.

Dental Treatment

The school is unusual in having its own dental surgery and a high standard of dental care is provided by Mr David Buchanan, BDS, LCS, RCS, Eng 1985. GDC Number 59942, and Miss Karen Vale RDN AInstLM GDC Number 123587.

preventative dentistry

Great emphasis is placed upon preventative dentistry and routine dental check – ups are advised every 6 months, to ensure early diagnosis of problems. The practice can register pupils (both boarding and day) under a National Health Contract or under a private contract.

treatments including orthodontics

The practice can offer a wide range of treatments including orthodontics under a National Health Service, (providing pupils meet the criteria set by the NHS) or there is the option under a private contract.
