This weekend 35 pupils across the age groups from Year 7 to 13 will take to the water in the Great East Swim at neighbouring Alton Water reservoir. This annual event attracts around 3,000 swimmers and involves either a 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 2 mile or 5km open water swim. It is part of the Great Swim Series which has five events across England and Scotland attracting in the region of 22,000 participants.
Swimming Coach, Ali Pugh, said "The pupils have been training hard in the build up to the Great East Swim and are now ready to take the challenge. They recently gained some invaluable tips from an open water specialist and undertook a training session at TriFarm in preparation. We have 25 pupils in the 1/2 mile race, six pupils in the 1 mile race, two in the 2 mile and one in the 5km."
