Candidates wishing to enter the School in Year 7 (11+ years) are invited to come to an Assessment Day at the School in the January of the year of entry. This consists of three elements:
- A Mathematics test based on the relevant level of the National Curriculum
- A Verbal Reasoning test
- An English test which includes a reading and comprehension paper and a creative writing paper
A year-specific guide for parents to help prepare children for the Entrance Examination is sent out to registered pupils in advance.
The Entrance Examination for entry in September 2018 is in January 2018.
Academic Exhibitions are awarded on the basis of performance in these tests, together with an interview and reference from the candidate's current school.
As part of our admission process, all candidates are expected to attend the School for an interview with the Registrar, Assistant Head (Pastoral) or another senior member of staff. Only in very exceptional circumstances will a firm place be offered without a member of staff having had an opportunity to meet the candidate.
On receipt of a Registration Form, we will contact the Head Teacher of the candidate's current school to ask for a reference, unless you have specifically asked us not to. Please note that a firm offer of a place cannot be given until a reference has been received.
Late entrants may be considered, provided places are still available, and special arrangements can be made for candidates living overseas or unable to travel to the School. Entry into Year 8 may be possible, subject to space being available, and the process for admission into this year group is similar to the above.
We are delighted to be able to offer a range of Scholarships and Awards for pupils entering the Lower School:
- 11+ Academic Exhibition
- Music Scholarship
- Sailing Scholarship
- Talent Awards (for sport, drama, art and design)
- All Round Awards
For an application form and further information, please contact the Registrar on telephone 01473 326136 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
