Entry at 13+
Candidates following Common Entrance can opt to sit a pre-test in Year 7. Successful candidates would then be offered a place for entry in Year 9 subject to a satisfactory reference from their Prep School, an interview with the Headmaster and Common Entrance results for the basis of setting.
If not following the Common Entrance process and applying for entry into Year 9 (13+ years), candidates will be asked to sit an entrance examination at the School in the January of the year of entry and it would consist of three elements:
1. A mathematics test based upon the relevant level of the National Curriculum
2. A verbal reasoning test
3. An English test
A year specific guide for parents to help prepare children for the entrance examination is sent out to applicants in advance or is available to download here.
As part of our admission process, all candidates are expected to attend the School for an interview with the Head of Lower School and Transition or another member of the Senior Management Team and only in very exceptional circumstances will a firm place be offered without a member of staff having had the opportunity to meet the candidate.
With your prior permission, we will contact the Head Teacher of the candidate’s current school to ask for a reference.
Entry into Year 10 may be possible subject to available space and based on a similar admission process to the above. An Exam Guide can be downloaded here.
