Entry at 11+
Candidates wishing to enter the School in Year 7 (11+ years) are asked to sit an entrance examination at the School in the January of the year of entry. Late entrants may take subsequent examinations provided places are still available. Alternative arrangements can be made for overseas candidates who are unable to travel to the School.
The entrance examination consists of three elements:
1. A mathematics test based upon the relevant level of the National Curriculum
2. A verbal reasoning test
3. An English test
11+ sample papers can be purchased from bookstores or online. A year-specific guide for parents to help prepare children for the entrance examination is sent out to applicants in advance or is available to download here.
As part of our admission process, all candidates are expected to attend the School for an interview with the Head of Lower School or another member of the Senior Management Team and only in very exceptional circumstances will a firm place be offered without a member of staff having had the opportunity to meet the candidate.
With your prior permission, we will contact the Head Teacher of the candidate’s current school to ask for a reference.Entry into Year 8 may be possible subject to space being available. The process for admission into this year group is similar to the above. An exam guide is available to download here.
