Sailing

Our unique seafaring heritage and outstanding water-sports facilities mean that all pupils have the opportunity to learn to sail and more experienced sailors may choose sailing as their games option from year 7 upwards.
In year 7, all pupils have one full week in the Michaelmas Term when normal morning lessons are replaced by sailing lessons. Other year groups are offered sailing lessons outside the timetabled day.
Many pupils choose to continue sailing throughout their time at the School and pursue the sport competitively at school, national and international level. Sailing holidays are also popular, with weekend sailing expeditions using the School’s fleet of Cornish Shrimpers and bi-annual trips to Egypt. The School is a RYA recognised training establishment and has a fleet of 40 dinghies including RS Terras, Toppers, Lasers, RS Fevas, RS 200, RS500 and 29ers.
Our senior sailors also have the opportunity to gain the globally-recognised RYA dinghy instructors qualification, allowing them to work all over the world.
