School Traditions

Our maritime heritage lives on in the daily life of the school. All pupils are supplied with a naval uniform which is worn to formal parades called Divisions; spectacular events that generate tremendous pride in pupils and parents alike. The boarding houses are named after prominent naval figures and the traditions we maintain continue to remind us of our unique and proud seafaring heritage. Prince Andrew Inspecting

These traditions include:

  • Sailing: all pupils have the opportunity to learn to sail and talent in sailing is encouraged and developed
  • Flag Ceremony: the daily raising and lowering of the school colours
  • Divisions: ceremonial parades for which all pupils are taught the rudiments of marching
  • Marking key naval events such as celebrating victory at the Battle of Trafalgar
