If your son or daughter feels unwell they will go and see the house matron at one of her regular daily surgeries where she will give them routine medication and if appropriate send them to the school health centre. Here a qualified nurse is always on duty and the school doctor lives less than a mile away.
All boarding pupils register with the school doctor for the duration of their time at the school and there is access to both male and female doctors. There are surgeries every day and of course, if anyone is taken ill during the day then they go straight to the health centre to be assessed. Boys or girls who are unwell will be ‘kept up’ in the health centre and the staff there will let you know if it’s anything other than a minor ailment. If your child needs to go to hospital, perhaps for an out-patient appointment, we have staff who act as escorts and school transport to take them. A physiotherapist and counsellor are also on hand.
There is also a fully equipped dental surgery and the school dentist can carry out most necessary work on pupils’ teeth.Boys and girls go for regular check-ups and can have emergency treatment very quickly, should the need arise. This service is available to both day and boarding pupils and most parents find appointments during school time extremely convenient, particularly if orthodontic work is in progress.
